Energetic Technician 2/3
Quick Summary
Follow the directions of supervision and lead technicians for the fabrication of rocket motors. Works with explosives and chemicals during the processing of propellant and rocket motor components.
Under supervision, supports processing, management and handling of energetic materials and electromechanical systems while ensuring strict compliance with all energetics safety protocols and a high awareness of electrostatic energy around energetics to prevent unintended discharge. Supports Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) oversight/ coordination for final hardware buy-off and functional-area audits, providing the required energetics documentation and traceability. Adheres/supports Hazardous Operation Standards (HOPS) reviews, Plant Propellant Control Board (PPCB) activities, Hazard Analysis and other safety-based programs that govern energetics operations. Maintains work areas in compliance with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and 5S standards, ensuring that energetics safety requirements are consistently met. Performs a variety of duties that center on energetics work, including but not limited to assisting engineers in the development of mechanical, electrical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components, and grounding systems and component bonding during assembly, fabrication and transportation in the presence of energetic (explosive) materials to prevent detonation. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform routine testing, checkout, troubleshooting, prototype building, environmental testing, and simple developmental engineering tasks. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components, process documentation, or test procedures, always considering the unique safety and performance requirements of energetics systems.
