About the role

An academic sessional makes a substantial contribution to the teaching program, particularly at the undergraduate level. The position requires preparation and coordination of tutorials and workshops, consultation with students, assessment marking and attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator. The primary purpose of an academic sessional is to successfully run and manage their assigned tutorials or workshops within the discipline area.

The School seeks expressions of interest from experienced Academics or Clinicians who have a passion for teaching. Teaching opportunities are available on a sessional basis in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy Program.

We are looking for academic sessional staff with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following occupational therapy practice areas:

• Rural, remote or international health and well-being
• Human pathophysiology or clinical medicine
• Paediatrics/school system
• Inpatient or Community Rehabilitation (aged care/disability/physical and cognitive)

• →Conduct lectures/theoretical tutorials and/or workshops in consultation with the Discipline Lead. This includes preparing a brief lesson plan in line with the weekly learning objectives and facilitating informed group discussions relating to the content.
• →Consultation with students in relation to readings, weekly topics and assessment.
• →Marking and providing feedback relating to assessment activities as set out by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
• →Attendance at meetings as required by the Course Coordinator/Program Coordinator.
• →Manage short-term extension requests in line with University policy.
• →Other duties as identified by the line manager or the National Deputy Head of School
• →Comply with policies and procedures in all aspects of their work and conduct.
