Weekend Caregiver Position (West Hartford, CT)

Compensation: $25–$30/hour
Schedule: Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 PM–6:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 12 hours/week

Overview:
A family in West Hartford is looking for a caring, patient, long-term weekend caregiver for their 18-year-old son. He has special needs and is developmentally at a child's level. He is nonverbal, walks on his own, does not wear diapers, and receives all of his nutrition through a G-tube. He goes to school during the week, so weekends are when the family needs help most.

His mother is home most of the time and needs someone reliable she can trust with her son while she gets things done around the house. She has hired caregivers throughout his life and knows exactly what she's looking for. The right person will engage with him, interact with him, and treat him with respect. He is nonverbal but very aware, so this role is not about sitting and watching him. It's a live-out position with no driving required.

Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive, hands-on weekend care and companionship
• Engage and interact with him throughout the shift, not just supervise
• Assist with G-tube feedings as directed by the family
• Help with daily routines and personal care as needed
• Keep the environment safe and supportive
• Communicate openly with his mother about how the day went

Requirements:

• Experience caring for individuals with special needs strongly preferred
• G-tube feeding experience preferred, or willingness to be trained
• Experience with nonverbal individuals a plus
• Patient, respectful, and engaged caregiving style
• Available every Saturday and Sunday for a long-term commitment
• Trustworthy, dependable, and punctual
• Comfortable working while a parent is home
• 3-5 professional references
