As a leader in Special Recreation, we provide year-round community-based recreation programs and services that promote inclusion and empower individuals with disabilities. We are similar to a park district but only serve residents with disabilities in our partner communities.
About the Job
As a Child Care Counselor, you will mentor and play a vital role in creating inclusion within before & after school or preschool programs. Your responsibilities will include fostering positive peer interactions, ensuring participant well-being, and creating inclusive environments where participants with disabilities can thrive alongside their peers. Additional responsibilities will include:
- Actively engaging with and supervising individuals with disabilities
- Ensuring participant safety during recreation events, transportation, and transition times
- Submitting timely reports, evaluations, and timesheets
- Communicating professionally with participants, parents, the public, and staff members
- Fulfilling other assigned duties

Pay and Schedule
We have before & after school or preschool opportunities available in our 13 Partner Communities, including Deerfield, Glencoe, Glenview, Highland Park, Highwood, Kenilworth, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, Northbrook, Northfield, Riverwoods, Wilmette, and Winnetka. These part-time positions offer flexible work schedules, ranging from 1 to 28 hours per week, depending on the program season. Scheduling is assigned accordingly, and hours can be adjusted to accommodate seasonal needs. Reliable transportation is required to ensure attendance at all scheduled programs, and commitment to work for the entire season is essential.
Starting at $16.50 - $22.70 per hour
