AISG is a national initiative driven by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), and the National Research Foundation, Singapore (NRF). 

AISG brings together Singapore-based research institutions and the broader ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies to support impactful research, develop talent and power Singapore's AI efforts.

This position will be hosted at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under VP (Artificial Intelligence & Digital Economy)’s office and we welcome you to join our community.

The AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) is a flagship initiative aimed at grooming local AI talent. We are looking for a driven AI Engineer to execute our programmes, lead AI-based projects, and spearhead the development of cutting-edge AI technologies.

• →Drive tasks stemming from AIAP, AIAP (Industry), LADP, and AIIP.
• →Train and mentor AI apprentices during the Deep-skilling and Project phases.
• →Lead solution development for internal and external AI projects, performing research and maintaining AIAP technologies.
• →Plan and execute LADP intakes and update the LADP syllabus.
• →Oversee and contribute to LADP Enterprise, Essentials, and the wider portfolio of LADP programmes.
• →Support industry and community-building activities through talks, workshops, and seminars.

We welcome applicants from all disciplines and qualifications — including NITEC, Diploma, and Degree holders — who can demonstrate the following skills:

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Have a strong portfolio of AI/ML project(s) that showcases ability to deliver solutions from scoping and data analysis through to deployment and documentation.
• Applied Machine Learning: Possess deep, practical knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, with proven experience applying algorithms to solve problems in areas like NLP, Computer Vision, or on tabular data.
• Generative AI & LLMs: Hands-on experience building production LLM applications and designing agentic systems: prompt and context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (including graph-based retrieval), tool use, state and control flow design, orchestration frameworks, and the tracing, guardrails, and evaluations that make them reliable. Basic knowledge of fine-tuning, parameter-efficient adaptation, dataset construction, and evaluation.
• Problem Scoping & Prioritisation: Proven ability to qualify a use case before development begins, assessing whether the business pain is real, whether the data is approved, representative and current, and whether GenAI is the appropriate tool at all. Comfortable reducing an ambitious business brief to a technical scope that is both useful and deliverable within a fixed timeline, and confident raising the case for changing direction early.
• Software Engineering Excellence: Demonstrates expert-level Python skills and a strong commitment to Software Engineering best practices, writing code that is clean, modular, and maintainable.
• AI-Assisted Development: Highly fluent with agentic coding tools, and able to use them to ship at speed across unfamiliar codebases. Equally able to hold engineering judgement at the points that matter, reviewing, rejecting, and rewriting generated code rather than shipping it unexamined.
• MLOps & Cloud Proficiency: Fluent in the essential MLOps toolkit, including Git, Docker, and CI/CD principles. Have experience building data and model pipelines on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Passionate Mentor: Eager to develop AI talent across the full range, from apprentices to industry professionals learning to build for the first time, and to contribute to AISG Innovation’s collaborative and supportive team culture.
• Excellent Communicator: Can articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence. Comfortable guiding learners to build solutions themselves rather than building on their behalf.
• Lifelong Learner: Possess a strong sense of curiosity and are driven to stay current in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence.
