Policy & Outreach Manager

National Taxpayers Union (NTU) and National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) are seeking a full-time Policy & Outreach Manager to lead the organization’s efforts to reduce regulations and other barriers that hinder the free flow of commerce, such as trade, logistics and transportation.  

The expected salary range is $75,000 - $90,000. This is a hybrid position based out of our Washington, DC office, with at least three days per week spent in office. The Manager may also need to attend evening and weekend events.

The Manager will serve as NTU and NTUF’s primary point of coordination on logistical, trade and related regulatory policies, such as the Jones Act and other maritime commerce matters. The position will involve developing a strategic reform agenda; building and managing relationships with coalition partners, policymakers, congressional offices, and other stakeholders; monitoring legislative and political developments; and ensuring that the organization can respond quickly and effectively to emerging opportunities and challenges.

Responsibilities: 

• Develop and execute strategies for reducing or repealing regulatory barriers to commerce.
• Build and maintain relationships with congressional offices, relevant committees, executive-branch officials, coalition partners, and other key stakeholders.
• Expand and coordinate a coalition of organizations and advocates working on regulatory, economic, transportation, maritime, energy, and taxpayer issues.
• Track legislative, regulatory, administrative, and political developments to identify and capitalize on opportunities for reform.
• Coordinate coalition activities, including joint statements, advocacy campaigns, briefings, and events, and represent the organization in relevant policy discussions.
• Monitor congressional activity and ensure the organization is positioned to respond quickly and effectively to emerging opportunities and developments.

Qualifications: 

• Experience working in public policy, government affairs, congressional relations, advocacy, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of the federal policymaking and legislative processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, advocacy organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and respond quickly to rapidly changing political circumstances.
• Familiarity with regulatory policy, maritime policy, transportation policy, or related issues.
