Abbey View Residential Family Assessment Centre is an exciting new service developed by NurtureCare, an established provider with an excellent reputation for delivering compassionate, high-quality care and support.

We are looking for dedicated and compassionate Waking Night Family Assessment Support Workers to join our founding team.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a brand-new Residential Family Assessment Centre, supporting families during the night while helping to ensure the safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes of babies and children.

Your role will be vital in observing overnight parenting, safeguarding children and contributing valuable evidence that informs professional parenting assessments for Local Authorities and the Family Court.

About the Role

As a Waking Night Family Assessment Support Worker, you will provide overnight support and supervision to families living within Abbey View. You will complete regular welfare checks, undertake detailed factual observations and ensure that children remain safe throughout the night.

You will work closely with our Family Assessment Practitioners and Registered Manager, ensuring accurate recording, effective communication and high-quality overnight handovers that contribute to comprehensive parenting assessments.

This role requires confidence, excellent observational skills, emotional resilience and a calm, professional approach to managing challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Complete overnight welfare checks in accordance with assessment plans.
  • Observe and accurately record overnight parenting interactions.
  • Monitor babies' and children's safety and wellbeing throughout the night.
  • Promote safe sleeping practices and positive parenting.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and detailed overnight observations.
  • Complete comprehensive handovers to the daytime team.
  • Ensure the building remains safe, secure and well maintained during the night.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals when required.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is passionate about safeguarding children and supporting families.
  • Has experience working with children, young people or vulnerable families.
  • Can work confidently and independently during night shifts.
  • Has excellent observation and written recording skills.
  • Is calm, organised and able to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Shares our values of compassion, professionalism, respect and integrity.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care, Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification (or willingness to work towards this).
  • Experience working with children, young people or families.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Experience within a Residential Family Assessment Centre.
  • Residential childcare experience.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and safe sleep guidance.
  • Experience writing professional observations and reports.
