Department Overview:
The Budget department is responsible for managing the over $8 billion City funded aspects of EDC’s Budget. This includes all city capital, city tax levy (expense), and any federal or state funds flowing through the City’s budget. This work includes working with internal EDC departments on securing new funding, working throughout the City on obtaining necessary approvals to use City funds, tracking expenditures, and working with our outside partners and sister agencies on capital and expense funded projects. Further, the department works with all necessary stakeholders on EDC’s Master and Maritime Contract process.
We are seeking candidates with a strong foundation in financial reporting and analysis, who can confidently interpret complex financial data and translate insights into actionable information for stakeholders. Proficiency in tools like Excel and FMS is essential, along with hands-on experience in budgeting and accounting. Familiarity with NYC funding regulations is a plus!
Ideal candidates will also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, maintaining clear and consistent communication with diverse stakeholders while aligning their work with the organization's broader goals.
In addition, we're looking for candidates with a proactive approach to project management—candidates who identify opportunities for process improvement, overcome challenges effectively, and consistently meet deadlines to deliver high-quality results.
