The NYISO takes pride in recruiting, developing and retaining highly talented individuals. Our summer internship programs give young professionals the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of New York electricity markets, bulk electricity systems and how we plan for New York State’s energy future.
The NYISO is seeking a Research and Engineering Intern to support the development of quantitative metrics that measure differences between Physical Dispatch and Economic Dispatch solutions. These two market-clearing processes can produce differences between physically feasible generator dispatch instructions and the prices produced by the market.
Working with the Research and Engineering team, the intern will design and implement a reusable software tool that calculates and visualizes these differences across market scenarios. The resulting analysis will help the team evaluate the pricing and scheduling effects of proposed electricity market enhancements.
