About Obytes

Obytes is a multi-entity technology group operating across Morocco, Kuwait, and the UAE, with a holding company in the Cayman Islands. We build digital products and platforms for clients across the world, and we are currently spinning out OBX, an artificial intelligence-powered autonomous software engineering platform, as a separate entity. Our finance function combines an internal team in Casablanca with external accounting firms in each jurisdiction.

Role purpose

We are looking for a Group Accounting Manager to own our accounting, reporting and financial control processes across all four entities. You will be the operational centre of our finance team: making sure work is completed accurately and on time, discrepancies are resolved, deadlines are respected, and our Chief Financial Officer receives complete, reliable information and well-prepared approvals. This is a review, coordination and control role, not a data entry role.

What you will do

Multi-entity accounting oversight

  • Review Morocco bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and supporting documents prepared by our accounting team
  • Review the monthly deliverables of our external firms in Kuwait, the UAE and the Cayman Islands, raise queries and drive corrections to closure
  • Monitor receivables, payables, accruals, prepayments and intercompany balances across all entities
  • Hold external providers to their agreed deliverables and deadlines

Month-end close and reporting

  • Run a standard monthly close across all entities, supported by a central calendar, checklists and a tracker of outstanding items
  • Consolidate results and prepare the monthly management pack
  • Support reporting on our investment portfolio: statement reconciliation, valuations and position summaries

Budget and cash

  • Build and maintain the group budget tracker
  • Produce monthly budget versus actual analysis, with clear explanations of material variances
  • Maintain a rolling cash flow forecast

Payroll review

  • Review monthly payroll prepared by our HR & Admin Coordinator against approved changes, contracts and budget
  • Prepare the monthly payroll summary for CFO approval
  • Ensure payroll is booked and payroll liabilities, including CNSS and IR, are reconciled

Compliance

  • Maintain the group compliance calendar
  • Coordinate tax filings, statutory accounts and audits with our external firms and local advisers, and support our accounting team on Moroccan filings (IS, VAT, liasse fiscale)

Team, controls and process improvement

  • Act as the first point of contact for routine finance matters
  • Supervise and support our Morocco Accounting Officer and Finance Assistant
  • Ensure every payment, payroll and filing reaches the CFO as a complete approval package
  • Apply our approval matrix and strengthen segregation of duties
  • Standardise closing and reporting, reduce manual work and document our processes

What we are looking for

Required

  • 6 or more years in accounting, including at least 2 years in external audit, a fiduciaire, or multi-entity group finance
  • Proven experience reviewing others' work and managing external accountants or service providers
  • Strong knowledge of Moroccan accounting (CGNC), with working knowledge of IFRS and consolidation
  • Solid understanding of Moroccan tax and payroll (IS, VAT, IR, CNSS), sufficient to review work prepared by others
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets; experience with cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
  • Fluent English and French, written and spoken
  • Highly organised, persistent in follow-up, discreet with confidential information, and confident escalating issues

Nice to have

  • Experience with Gulf or Cayman entities, or with investment or holding company accounting
  • Experience with RemotePass, Deel or BambooHR
  • Arabic
  • Experience in a technology company or startup

How we will measure success

  • Monthly close completed by working day 15 within 6 months, and by working day 10 within 12 months
  • Monthly management pack delivered on time, with no material restatements
  • All bank accounts and intercompany balances reconciled monthly
  • Zero missed filing deadlines and zero payroll errors reaching employees
  • No approval request returned for missing information
  • Documented procedures for every entity within 6 months

What we offer

  • Ownership of the accounting function in a growing international technology group
  • Close collaboration with our Chief Financial Officer
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
