Role Overview
The Transactional Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day financial transactions across the property portfolio, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial control. This includes managing accounts payable, accounts receivable (rent and service charge), and cash management processes.
The role plays a critical part in maintaining the financial integrity of high-volume property transactions while supporting operational teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor & develop a small transactional finance team, including providing cover for absence
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashflow processes
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of purchase ledgers via regular statement reconciliations and aged creditor review
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of tenant ledgers via regular tenant account reconciliations and aged debtor review
- Ensure tenant debt is chased up to the stage before legal proceedings
- Full monthly reconciliation of tenant prepayments including all required actions
- Devise, plan and deliver business process improvement to reduce manual processing times
- Lead and manage payment runs in line with business priorities and cashflows
- Maintain strong financial controls across accounts payable & receivable functions including training other teams
- Own insightful KPIs relating to payables, receivables and cash, driving DPO and DSO improvements through automation and team efficiency
- Partner with Yardi to drive for continuous improvement, looking for innovative ways to improve efficiency
- Identify and manage Ocasa's top 10 suppliers requiring finance relationship
- Lead the business towards signing up to the Fair Payment Charter
- Ensure accuracy in tenant lease set up, timely invoicing and move in reconciliations
- Drive improvements in working capital through effective debtor and creditor management, feeding into the business cashflow projections
- Contribute to wider business projects such as cost saving initiatives, new development or funding applications
- Establish and drive payables-related financial controls, including training of the wider teams and regular reporting to the SMT
- Full reconciliation of tenant deposit accounts on the balance sheet
- Lead AP and AR month end close with relevant reconciliations and analysis
- Any other duties as reasonably required
Experience and Qualifications
- Strong experience across all areas of transactional finance (AP, AR, cash), ideally within a property company
- Proven track record in business process reengineering
- Proven experience managing high volume financial transactions
- Experience managing and developing finance teams
- Experience of managing change in a positive and driven way
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (e.g. lookups, pivot tables) and experience with working with accounting software providers to enhance functionality
- Exceptional communication skills
(written and verbal), with the ability to build rapport with others easily and form strong working relationships - Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work towards deadlines and manage time effectively
