About the Role
~1 min readPerform imaging on animals of all species with compassionate and appropriate patient care. Perform imaging studies which may include Radiographs, CT, NM, MRI and/or Ultrasound exams on patients as requested by radiologists and/or other clinicians, documenting the completed exams. Maintain records and perform routine quality control associated with each modality. Instruct and assist veterinary students in positioning of patients for routine, special, and/or emergency procedures. Model radiation safety and follow ALARA guidelines and university radiation safety standards and policies. Maintain stock and cleanliness of assigned room(s). Perform minor administrative duties. Complete other tasks that are assigned or become necessary. If on emergency duty, must be available and on site within 30 minutes and must be willing to fill in, in an emergency situation. Requirements

- Associate's Veterinary Technology and/or Radiology Technology

Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program or technical degree from a certified radiology training program and more than 2 years of veterinary technician experience and/or radiological technologist experience. Prefer 2 years of experience solely utilizing and performing studies with two of three specialized modalities in CT, MRI, or Nuclear Medicine Imaging.
Must be able to perform routine diagnostic imaging studies. Animal handling skills or ability/willingness to learn is required. Must be comfortable working with animals in general, including large animals. Must be able to assist with lifting heavy dogs, up to 100-120 pounds. Radiography, CT, MRI, and/or Nuclear Medicine experience/training desired, but not necessary. Will provide training for other modalities in the imaging service. Will need to be able to quickly maneuver around x-ray table to position animal patients and between table and adjacent anesthetic equipment. Must be comfortable with Windows-based computer applications.
