About the Role

The Department of Engineering Technology at Langston University, a proud Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and land-grant institution, is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty members to teach undergraduate courses in engineering technology on a part-time, semester-by-semester basis. This department, housed within the School of Arts and Sciences, emphasizes hands-on laboratory and project-based learning to prepare students for high-demand careers in fields such as electronics, drafting, and construction. Adjunct instructors will deliver engaging instruction, support student success, and contribute to our mission of fostering excellence in education, research, and service to diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • →Teach assigned courses (e.g., Electronics Technology, Drafting and Design, Building Construction Management) in in-person, following the approved syllabus and program learning outcomes
  • →Prepare and deliver dynamic lectures, labs, and project sessions with a focus on practical applications
  • →Develop, grade, and provide timely feedback on assignments, quizzes, exams, and capstone projects
  • →Hold regular office hours (virtual or in-person) to mentor students and promote inclusive learning environments
  • →Submit mid-term and final grades by university deadlines
  • →Utilize the institution’s Learning Management System, (Canvas) for course delivery and communication
  • →Maintain academic integrity, adhere to Langston University policies, and participate in departmental assessments as needed
  • →Collaborate with full-time faculty on curriculum enhancements and student advising

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Drafting/Design (CADD), Construction Management, or closely related field.

(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

    • At least four months of teaching experience (lecture) as instructor of record or the equivalent in a US academic setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level, with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Expertise in one or more areas of electrical engineering circuits, electronics, Computer Aided drafting/design, construction methods, signals & systems, IoT, or control systems.
  • Ph.D./Ed.D degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting/Design (CADD), Construction Management, or closely related field.
  • Previous teaching at a collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and student success
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
