Position Overview

OMG manufactures highly engineered fastening products, adhesives, and related components for the commercial roofing and construction industries, and sells into a wide range of U.S. and international markets. Customers, retailers, and regulators increasingly require documentation of the chemical composition, environmental impact, and sourcing of the materials used in our products.

Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Compliance Specialist manages OMG's response to customer, market, and regulatory requirements governing product content and sourcing. This role owns the intake and resolution of customer compliance requests (e.g., Prop 65, PFAS, REACH, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, packaging regulations), coordinates with suppliers to collect and maintain material composition data, and issues accurate compliance certifications and statements to customers and internal stakeholders. The Compliance Specialist works closely with Procurement, Quality, Sales, New Product Development and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to keep OMG's sourcing and product data audit-ready and responsive to an evolving regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

• Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees.
• Customer Compliance Management
  • Own the customer compliance request queue, tracking each request from intake through response.
  • Draft and maintain standard compliance statements, certificates, and declaration templates; respond directly to routine requests and escalate complex or novel ones appropriately.
  • Maintain a master log of certifications issued and organized, audit-ready documentation of all compliance correspondence.
• Regulatory & Substance Compliance
  • Manage ongoing compliance programs for chemical and substance regulations, including TSCA (including Section 8(a)(7) PFAS reporting), REACH SVHC, RoHS, California Prop 65, and state-level PFAS laws (e.g., Minnesota Amara's Law, New Mexico HB212).
  • Track packaging-related regulations (e.g., EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, Toxics in Packaging/CONEG).
  • Monitor emerging and evolving regulatory requirements relevant to OMG's products and markets (U.S. and EU), including ODS, CBAM, biocidal products, POPs, and PAH restrictions, and flag changes that affect product formulations or sourcing.
• Supply Chain Coordination
  • Collect, validate, and maintain supplier declarations and material composition data (e.g., full material disclosures, safety data sheets, certificates of compliance) needed to answer customer and regulatory inquiries.
  • Administer the Conflict Minerals (3TG) due diligence program, including supplier surveys (e.g., CMRT), recordkeeping, and customer reporting.
  • Partner with Procurement to build compliance requirements into supplier qualification and sourcing decisions.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with New Product Development and Quality to assess new materials, components, and formulations against applicable restricted-substance lists (e.g., LEED, ILFI Red List) before they enter production.
  • Coordinate with EHS on facility-level environmental reporting that overlaps with product compliance (e.g., GHG Reporting Program, ozone-depleting substances) to avoid duplicated effort and ensure consistent data.
  • Provide compliance training and guidance to Procurement, Sales, and Customer Service teams on regulatory requirements and how to handle customer inquiries.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 3-5+ years of experience in product regulatory compliance, materials compliance, or supplier quality within a manufacturing environment; industrial, building products, or fastener/hardware industry experience a plus.
• Working knowledge of chemical and product regulations such as REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, PFAS reporting requirements, and Conflict Minerals due diligence.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent requests and deadlines.
• Comfortable interpreting regulatory text and translating it into practical sourcing and documentation requirements.
• Effective written communication for customer-facing certifications and internal guidance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and document management systems; experience with supplier portals or compliance databases a plus.
• Ability to act in a professional manner with employees and customers.
• Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and sound judgment.
• Strong PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
