The Safety Coordinator serves as a resource to the office of the Director of Safety. This role requires the coordination between Safety Programs, Security Programs, Technical Publications, and SMS Interfaces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the highest level of safety in the public interest during the conduct of all activities;
  • Ensure the comfort and convenience of the Company’s customers are considered second only to safety during the conduct of all activities;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and conformity to all standards during the conduct of all activities;
  • Develop and refine safety communication processes to ensure employees are aware of the SMS policies, processes, and tools that are relevant to their responsibilities.
  • Prepare safety information relevant to employee responsibilities including, but not limited to, hazard information, explanation of safety actions, and justification for why safety procedures are introduced or changed.
  • Provide narrative summaries of investigations and analysis to support the day-to-day management of the SMS.
  • Research and report on topics pertaining to the continued improvement of the SMS and in support of the identification of hazards and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental communications to ensure the free flow and consistency of information shared.
  • Ensure reoccurring reports of SMS outputs are efficient, continuous, and timely.
  • Assist all departments within the organization in documentation of policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day management of technical publications, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Possess highest degree of integrity
  • Ability for clear expression in writing
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, both inside and outside the company
  • Organizational ability
  • Capability to work independently (at times under pressure)
  • Good analytical skills
  • To exhibit leaderships and authoritative approach
  • Be worthy of commanding respect among peers and management officials
  • Maintain competence on basis of continued education and training and, if applicable, continue to satisfy technical competency requirements
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screen

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two years of technical writing experience required.
  • Possess general knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Capacity to become familiar with all aspects of the company’s organization, activities, and personnel
    • Accomplished in part through in-house induction training, but best acquired through self-study and research
    • External training may cover management of safety programs, basic accident investigation, and operational auditing
  • Maintain competence through continued education and training and, if applicable, technical competency requirements

  • Ability to handle numerous activities at once and complete in a timely manner.

  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully with significant detail.
  • Ability to make decisions which impact the department’s credibility and services.
