Factory Build and Test Technician

We are seeking a hands-on and technically minded Manufacturing & Test Technician to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work across product assembly, testing, fault finding, inspection and continuous improvement activities within a specialist manufacturing environment.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will play a key role in building, testing, troubleshooting and supporting our industry-leading analyser products, helping to ensure the highest standards of quality, performance and reliability.

In this varied role, you will:

• →Perform functional testing on company products and accurately document test results.
• →Assemble products and sub-assemblies, including light mechanical assembly and soldering activities.
• →Troubleshoot and repair analysers to component level, identifying and resolving technical issues efficiently.
• →Inspect incoming products and components supplied by external vendors to ensure quality standards are met.
• →Raise purchase requisitions for required parts and materials.
• →Support the technical and product-related needs of other departments as required.
• →Identify, label and ensure the correct handling of non-conforming products.
• →Complete build records, test documentation and other manufacturing paperwork accurately.
• →Submit Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) where improvements or corrections are identified.
• →Follow all company quality, safety and environmental procedures.
• →Adapt positively to changing priorities and undertake additional duties as required.

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related technical or manufacturing role.

• HNC/HND in an Engineering or Science discipline.
• Experience working within a manufacturing or production environment.

Successful candidates will ideally demonstrate:

• A basic understanding of analogue and digital electronic circuits.
• The ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies and circuits to component level.
• Experience using electronic test and measurement equipment.
• Good working knowledge of PC systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.

You will be able to:

• Read and interpret operating instructions, test procedures, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and process flow diagrams.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with colleagues across the business.

You will be comfortable:

• Working with whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Calculating rates, ratios and percentages as required.

You will have the ability to:

• Apply practical problem-solving skills and common-sense judgement.
• Follow written, verbal and diagram-based instructions accurately.
• Investigate faults methodically and identify effective solutions.

You will work in a clean, professional manufacturing environment, collaborating with colleagues across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and Operations. The role combines hands-on technical work with documentation and testing activities, providing a varied and engaging working day.
