Laboratory Medical Director/Pathologist

PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist to serve as Laboratory Medical Director at our hospital-based practice in Gallatin, Tennessee, part of the greater Nashville area. This leadership position offers the opportunity to oversee laboratory operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support diagnostic excellence while enjoying the resources and collegial network of one of the nation’s largest independent pathology groups.

• Serve as Laboratory Medical Director for an established hospital-based pathology practice
• Solo onsite pathologist role with strong operational, clinical, and administrative support
• No autopsy requirement
• Transition support and mentorship available
• Direct access to PathGroup’s network of 240+ pathologists, including subspecialty consultation resources
• Call is shared through a daily rotation among Nashville-area pathologists and typically averages approximately two weekdays and one weekend per month

• →Provide medical and administrative leadership for the hospital-based laboratory
• →Deliver high-quality diagnostic pathology services
• →Oversee quality systems, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and laboratory inspections
• →Collaborate with hospital leadership, laboratory operations teams, clinicians, and PathGroup physician colleagues
• →Represent the laboratory in clinical consultations, client-facing discussions, and internal strategic meetings
• →Lead or support laboratory quality improvement initiatives

• →Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• →AP/CP Board Certification
• →Medical Director or laboratory leadership experience preferred
• →Tennessee medical license or eligibility required
• →Strong diagnostic, communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• →Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a broader physician and operational network
