Organizational Development Advisor

Experienced program managers are called to share their expertise with an organization providing critical palliative care in Eswatini.

Eswatini Hospice at Home serves communities facing high rates of chronic and life‑limiting illness, limited access to reliable healthcare, and socio-economic hardships that strain families and existing health systems. The small organization is struggling to meet growing client needs due to limited financial, human, and technological resources. Staff are increasingly required to multitask across essential functions, making capacity‑building an urgent priority—especially as rising service‑delivery costs continue to strain the team.

As an Organizational Development Advisor, you will collaborate with the staff to stabilize and strengthen the hospice. Alongside your counterparts, you will create a clear roadmap for organizational and staff development, improve organizational policies, and advance revenue-generating initiatives. In the short term, your support will lead to streamlined workflows and reduced pressure on the staff. Your service also has the potential to enable high-quality care that meets evolving client needs.

Education:

BA/BS in relevant field including social science, education, business, management and organizational development

AND

Experience:

3 or more years of technical expertise in organizational capacity development and training.



Experience supporting strategic planning, results-based management and reporting.



Strong interpersonal, team building, and communications skills.

Ability to implement new systems and effect staff behavioral/attitudinal change.


Professional experience in program management and/or monitoring and evaluation.

During training, the Volunteer will stay within a peri-urban area just outside the capital. The Volunteer will then move to their permanent site in the Manzini Region and live in their own house within a family homestead. While electricity is widely available and most Volunteers will live with modern conveniences, Volunteers should also be prepared to live without electricity and to use a latrine, as that is the norm in rural communities. You will commute to work on foot or public transport, depending on the distance from your house to the workplace.

Acquire Siswati language skills through your daily interactions.

Immerse yourself in Eswatini’s vibrant culture—from traditional ceremonies and intricate beadwork to the warmth of communal living.

Design and facilitate leadership development programs to strengthen capacity.

Review, analyze, and develop organizational policies, including communications, finance, and management policies.

Implement improvement initiatives that align with strategic goals and promote sustainable growth.

Support the organization’s revenue‑generation efforts through grant writing, funding diversification strategies, and stakeholder engagement.

Conduct research and customer feedback surveys to guide one‑off projects that enhance the institution’s environment and service delivery.


You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as English language classes and running clubs.

After the two-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to a rural/urban community where you will collaborate with the NCCP staff and community health workers to assess needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.

Peace Corps/Eswatini will equip you with Siswati language resources and you may work with a tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
