University Education Advisor

Experienced educators are invited to share their skills with professors in Kosovo.

Kosovo faces a significant shortage of qualified educators, and its public universities struggle to align their programs with European standards. Aligning with European frameworks is critical for Kosovo’s integration into the European academic and labor markets, which will enable graduates to compete globally and institutions to meet international accreditation benchmarks.

As a University Education Advisor, you and the faculty will outline strategic initiatives across multiple Kosovan universities, emphasizing opportunities to enhance academic capacity, curriculum development, and professional competencies in diverse fields. Your collaborative work will ultimately contribute to the development of a highly skilled, internationally competitive academic environment.

Competitive candidates will have one or more of the following criteria:

Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts in Education, preferably with a focus in curriculum/instruction
OR
Bachelor of Arts degree plus 3 or more years of relevant experience, including teaching and curriculum development, and teaching certification/license OR Master of Arts degree plus 2 or more years of relevant experience
OR
Specialized experience in one of the following areas: early childhood literacy, adult English education, vocational English education, or special education

The Volunteer will live in an independent apartment or house within a reasonable walking distance from the university.

Gain valuable experience with another country’s education system and student services.
Become a valued faculty member at a public university.
Experience Balkan festivals and celebrations in person.

Teach up to 20 hours each week, focusing on methodology-based courses, lesson planning, student assessment, and feedback.
Train faculty on technology integration, research design, data analysis, and innovative pedagogies.
Support curriculum development, alignment, and modernization.
Develop sustainable academic resources.
Promote a research culture through special events.

You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as digital literacy or intercultural exchanges.

After a week of orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move near the university where you will collaborate with the faculty to assess the local needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.

Peace Corps/Kosovo will equip you with Albanian or Slavic language resources and you may work with a local tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
