Peachtree Group is seeking an experienced Controller to join our SBA division. This individual will play a key role in overseeing accounting and financial reporting activities across the platform, including securitization activity, secondary market loan sales, and SBA-related reporting.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across Accounting, Servicing, and other areas of the business. This role will also be instrumental in enhancing processes, implementing new technology, and identifying opportunities to leverage AI within the accounting function.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Oversee and maintain the general ledgers and the securitization, including preparation and support of journal entries.
- →Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, fluctuation analyses, and other financial reporting schedules.
- →Perform interest income and expense reasonableness analyses, including secondary market interest expense.
- →Prepare and maintain required data tapes and support financial information.
- →Manage and support BOC, OCRM, CAFR, E-Tran, and other required SBA and regulatory reporting.
- →Review reserve calculations and related supporting documentation.
- →Review securitization reporting for accuracy and completeness.
- →Record, review, and summarize secondary market loan sale activity.
- →Conduct technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex or emerging accounting matters.
- →Coordinate with external auditors and prepare requested schedules, supporting documentation, disclosure checklists, and other audit materials.
- →Coordinate with external valuation firms and prepare required schedules and supporting information.
- →Serve as a backup for key financial controls and operational functions, including cash management, payoff approvals, accounts payable approvals, and internal and external wire approvals.
- →Partner closely with the Servicing and Accounting teams to ensure accurate loan-level and financial reporting.
- →Coordinate with iBusiness on the rollout of the new loan ledger, including integrity testing, validation, and reconciliation of data.
- →Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve accounting processes, reporting, reconciliations, and other applicable tasks.
- →Support the implementation and utilization of new accounting systems, tools, and process improvements.
- →Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA required.
- Strong accounting background with experience in financial reporting, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and technical accounting research.
- Experience working with external auditors and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Experience coordinating with external valuation firms and preparing required schedules preferred.
- Basic knowledge of commercial mortgage loans, loan accounting, and SBA lending programs is a plus.
- Experience with securitizations, secondary market loan sales, or financial services accounting is highly preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and related functions), PowerPoint, Word, Adobe/Nitro, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with accounting software, loan accounting systems, or Access-based systems is a plus.
- Knowledge of AI tools and an interest in utilizing AI to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with multiple supervisors and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across both Accounting and Servicing functions.
The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented, collaborative accounting leader who is comfortable balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with higher-level technical and strategic initiatives. This individual should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of complex accounting matters, and continuously looking for ways to improve processes through technology and automation.
