Overview of the Position

People’s Action Institute is looking for a Data & Analytics Senior Strategist to lead the data infrastructure, analytics, and insights that power our organizing campaigns, member organization support, and movement governing strategies. This role is the CEO of data that moves people—from insights to action, from metrics to movement power.

As a key member of our Impact Team, you'll manage data pipelines, oversee tool integration, support our member organization data cohort, and lead the data side of our Pathways to Power program in partnership with The Movement Cooperative. You'll ensure our data systems serve our mission of building power for the multiracial working class.


As the Data & Analytics Senior Strategist, your responsibilities can include (but aren’t limited to): 


Tool Integration & Management (25%)

Serve as the administrator and subject matter expert for core organizing and engagement tools, independently ensuring systems are reliable, accessible, and effectively used across teams and member organizations. Lead tool adoption and integration efforts, manage vendor relationships, and provide ongoing technical support to strengthen organizing, campaign, and training workflows.


Data Pipeline & Architecture (20%)

Manage and maintain ETL pipelines and data architecture to ensure reliable, timely data flow that supports campaigns and organizational priorities. Partner with internal teams and external collaborators to align data systems with program goals, while maintaining code, documentation, and translating external learnings into internal improvements.


Data Analysis & Integrity (15%)

Analyze campaign and program data to generate actionable insights that inform decisions across teams and for funders. Build and maintain dashboards and reporting systems, while ensuring data integrity, governance, and compliance through strong audit and hygiene practices.


Pathways to Power Cohort Support (15%)

Manage the data and technology components of cohort-based programs, ensuring participants have the tools, infrastructure, and support needed to succeed. Train and support member organizations in using data effectively, while coordinating measurement and evaluation efforts to advance cohort goals.


Member & Network Data Support (10%)

Lead targeted support spaces for member organizations, including advanced data cohorts, to strengthen data capacity across the network. Maintain resources and manage support systems that address ongoing and urgent data needs, while collaborating to expand shared tools and support structures.


Universe Creation & Targeting (5%)

Build targeted lists to support organizing, fundraising, communications, and campaign engagement efforts. Provide guidance and training on targeting strategies aligned with campaign and issue priorities.


Administrative & Organizational Contributions (5%)

Contribute data and insights to support fundraising efforts and board reporting. Complete internal administrative processes, including work allocation and expense reconciliation.


Cross-Departmental Support (5%)

Participate in internal working groups and partner across teams to support system improvements, audits, and data governance efforts. Take on additional responsibilities aligned with team and organizational priorities.


The ideal Senior Data & Analytics Strategist should have the following experience and qualifications: 

  • A minimum of eight years managing data systems, ideally working in community, labor, or electoral organizations working with poor and working-class people.
  • Familiarity working with voter file; preferred experience with list segmentation and universe creation.
  • Strong working knowledge of civic engagement tools such as SmartVAN, EveryAction, ActionBuilder, and Scale to Win.
  • Advanced proficiency with dialers, P2P SMS, and voter file tools.
  • Advanced proficiency data analysis and with data visualization and dashboard tools such as Sisense for Cloud Data Teams.
  • Proficiency in SQL and a scripting language (preferably Python).
  • Experience operating in a high-paced, metrics-based environment and leading or managing large projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skill with experience translating data into accessible reports and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work with diverse people and organizations.
  • Strong commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice and their intersections.


The ideal Data & Analytics Senior Strategist preferred experience and qualifications: 

  • Experience managing and optimizing Salesforce or similar CRM platforms, ideally in a nonprofit or advocacy organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and customize reports and dashboards to inform decision-making.
  • Experience developing and implementing data protocols and maintaining data hygiene.
  • Proficiency with core workplace technologies such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or similar platforms, including user and group management, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience providing technical support and training to non-technical users; ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly.


Compensation and Benefits:

Status: Full-time, Regular, Exempt, benefits-eligible

Union Position (Yes/No): Yes

Salary Range: Level E - $92,325 - $127,345, salary commensurate with experience

Location: Open to remote; if  based in Chicago, IL, or the Chicagoland area; able to work a flexible hybrid schedule

Reports to: Chief of Impact

Supervises: N/A

Travel Requirements (Yes/No): Yes, 6-8 times a year for staff stepbacks and any other required meetings/events.

Benefits include: Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Medical, on the first day of employment, and Dependent Care Flex Spending Account after 90 days, 401(k) plan after 30 days, Long-Term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, 4 floating holidays (Presidents Day, May Day, Indigenous People’s Day, Veterans Day, a week off during the summer, 9 paid holidays plus the last two weeks of the year that include Christmas Eve/Christmas Day as well as, New Year’s Eve, and you accrue two weeks of vacation your first year of employment.

To further counter pay inequities and inequality on the team, we have a non-negotiable compensation practice - this also includes vacation and benefits - and provide opportunities for advancement for full-time employees based on performance evaluation. Your starting pay reflects where you sit within our salary scale and is based on the information that you provide us on your resume. PAI continues to monitor wages through triennial compensation analysis to ensure that we continue to offer our prospective and current employees fair wages.  


Hiring Process
