Parts Technician (Contract)

Peterbilt Pacific is currently seeking a Parts Technician for a temporary contract to cover a leave of absence, starting in August. The Parts Technician is responsible for ordering, warehousing, inventory control and the sale of parts. Their duties also include identifying/searching for parts and equipment, shipping and receiving, and providing excellent customer service.

• →Receive and sort incoming parts and supplies
• →Telephone sales support
• →Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in a warehouse, tool room, supply room or other areas
• →Process incoming requisitions and issue or distribute parts and supplies for internal usage
• →Maintain records of orders and the amount, kind and location of parts and supplies on hand using a manual or computerized inventory system
• →Prepare requisition orders to replenish parts and supplies
• →Sell spare and replacement parts for motor vehicles, machinery and equipment in a retail setting
• →Post receipts, stock adjustments, request for credits and PR’s into computer
• →Advise retail customers or internal users on appropriateness of parts, supplies or materials requested.
• →Fill customer orders from stock. Prepare sales slips or sales contracts.
• →Keep track of backorders and follow up with vendors and customers
• →Endeavor to increase parts sales and customer satisfaction through suggestive selling, use of coupon discounts and monthly flyer specials
• →Ensure that product and service quality exceeds expectations. Aids in the merchandising of parts
• →Must participate in all training programs made available through Peterbilt or outside vendors
• →Assist Parts Manager as needed
• →Occasional moderate lifting of up to 100 lbs is required
• →Other duties and projects as assigned

• 3-5 years heavy duty parts department experience
• Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree
• Red Seal parts certification is an asset
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Strong personal organizational skills as they relate to workload, time management and setting priorities
• Effective problem solving and negotiating skills
• Effective conflict resolution skills
• Ability to promote service sales and expand customer base.
• Solid understanding of the truck industry
