Summary Job Description:

Perform all medical receptionist functions at primary care and community-based health centers for underserved populations. The Medical Receptionist will report to the Health Practice Manager.

The Bilingual, Spanish-speaking Float Medical Receptionist performs a wide variety of front desk duties across all Specialized Health Services health center sites, covering staff vacancies, leaves, call-outs, and periods of high patient volume. The Float Medical Receptionist must adapt quickly to each site's patient flow, providers, and workflows while maintaining a consistent emphasis on quality of care and customer service. Fluent in English and Spanish.  The Float MA communicates directly with Spanish-speaking patients and families and supports language access at every site. The position must exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, exercising discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions.

 

Responsibilities

  • → Responsible for all front Desk Functions in a Primary Care setting
  • →Schedule Appointments
  • →Schedule specialty and ancillary appointments
  • →Answer Phones
  • →Check in patients in EPIC
  • →Responsible for patient registration data entry
  • →Verify Insurance on Insurance Portals
  • →Fee-assess patients and collect copays
  • →Close cash drawer daily
  • →Reconcile all payments collected
  • →Daily Batching of encounter forms
  • →Complete Managed Care Referrals
  • →Obtain Pre-Certs when needed
  • →Log referrals in the tracking system
  • →Follow up for reports from specialists
  • →Arrange transportation when needed for patients
  • →Assist patients when needed
  • →Review patients' charts and encounter forms for completion
  • →Perform other duties as assigned
  • →Understands and adheres to PHMC compliance standards as they appear in the PHMC Code of Conduct, Whistleblowers, and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • →Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and PHMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • →Comply with HIPAA and Confidentiality Policies and Procedures as they apply to the job.
  • →Comply with the standards of the Department of Public Health (DPH), The Joint Commission, and other accreditation and regulatory agencies' standards.
  • →Adhere to all PHMC Policies and Procedures.
  • →Knowledge of and adherence to Infection Control and Environment of Care Guidelines and Procedures as described in the annual education module.

  • Must be flexible.
  • Fluent in speaking Spanish

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
