Pine Services Group is a long-term holding company within the Evergreen Services Group family, owning and operating a portfolio of ERP VAR and technology services companies. We operate in a decentralized model and are in an active period of growth through continued acquisition and expansion.

As our portfolio grows, we're investing in the financial infrastructure, controls, processes, and accounting talent needed to support that growth. We're looking for a Controller to help lead that effort across Pine and our operating companies.

Pine Services Group is seeking a Controller to strengthen accounting leadership across our growing portfolio. Reporting to the CFO, you'll partner closely with Pine's finance team and the Controllers and accounting leaders across our operating companies to drive accounting rigor, develop talent, and build scalable processes and controls.

This is a strategic accounting leadership role rather than a day-to-day, in-the-weeds Controller position. We're looking for someone who can see across multiple businesses, identify opportunities to improve how we operate, and then work with accounting leaders to make those improvements happen.

You'll play a key role in initiatives including IPO readiness and controls, multi-entity accounting and consolidation, banking and treasury optimization, and the continued development of Pine's accounting organization.

  • Provide accounting leadership and guidance to Controllers and accounting teams across Pine's operating companies
  • Partner with operating company Controllers to strengthen close processes, financial reporting, accounting policies, controls, and overall financial discipline
  • Mentor and develop Pine's accounting team and operating company accounting leaders, helping build stronger capabilities and future leaders across the organization
  • Lead initiatives to strengthen Pine's internal controls framework and support IPO readiness and increasing financial reporting rigor
  • Establish scalable accounting policies, procedures, and best practices that can be applied across a growing, decentralized portfolio
  • Provide guidance on multi-entity consolidation, intercompany accounting, and consolidated financial reporting
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and improve accounting processes across operating companies while allowing for appropriate operating-company flexibility
  • Lead strategic banking and treasury initiatives, including the continued consolidation and optimization of banking relationships across the portfolio
  • Partner with operating company leadership to identify control gaps, improve processes, and develop practical remediation plans
  • Support the integration of newly acquired companies into Pine's broader accounting framework
  • Serve as a trusted accounting resource and thought partner to operating company Controllers, Pine leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Partner with the CFO on strategic accounting initiatives, acquisitions, financial reporting, and other special projects
  • Build relationships across a decentralized organization and drive accountability through influence rather than relying solely on direct authority

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Director, or comparable accounting leadership role
  • Prior experience leading accounting within an operating company or business unit
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, and accounting processes
  • Experience working across multiple entities, teams, or business units
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and mentor accounting professionals and leaders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with accounting, finance, operations, and executive leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • High ownership quotient with a track record of identifying problems, driving initiatives, and seeing improvements through to completion
  • Active CPA license
  • Multi-entity consolidation and intercompany accounting experience
  • Experience in a private equity-backed, acquisitive, or decentralized organization
  • IPO readiness, SOX, or public-company financial reporting experience
  • Experience developing or implementing internal control frameworks
  • Experience integrating acquired companies or standardizing accounting processes across multiple entities
  • Experience with banking, treasury, or cash-management optimization
  • Experience leading and developing Controllers or other senior accounting leaders
  • Experience with mid-market ERP or accounting systems
