The HR Representative – New Hire Success & Retention is responsible for supporting the successful transition of new employees into swine production operations. This position serves as a consistent HR connection for new hires during their first 90 days and plays a key role in creating a positive employee experience that supports retention, employee engagement, animal care, biosecurity, safety, and farm performance.
The HR Representative will conduct structured 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-ups with new employees to understand how they are adjusting to farm life, training, leadership, scheduling, housing, team dynamics, and job expectations.
The position will identify concerns early, communicate appropriately with farm leadership, and help ensure employees have the support and resources needed to become successful, long-term members of the production team.
Responsibilities
~1 min read· Complete 30-, 60-, and 90-day check-ins with all new employees working in swine operations.
· Build a trusting relationship with new hires and provide an HR resource outside of the immediate farm leadership structure.
· Ask consistent questions to understand the employee's experience and identify potential retention concerns.
· Evaluate how well new employees are adjusting to the farm environment and production team.
· Determine whether the employee's experience matches what was communicated during recruiting and onboarding
· Identify barriers that may prevent new employees from becoming successful on the farm
· Confirm employees understand their job responsibilities, work schedule, attendance expectations, biosecurity requirements, animal-care expectations, and performance standards.
· Identify concerns early and ensure appropriate follow-up occurs.
· Document check-ins and action items accurately.
Requirements
~1 min read· Associate's degree or equivalent experience
· Farm background with swine experience preferred
· Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
· Effective time management to meet deadlines
· Detail-oriented
· Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
· Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines is required.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
· Ability to attend and participate in meetings of various lengths
· Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to work and attend meetings
· Travel as needed to various locations
· Bilingual in English and Spanish required
· Office setting in an agricultural business
