Job Summary:
The Finance Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of the school’s financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash handling. The role supports the Finance Department by maintaining complete and up-to-date financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and preparing basic financial reports for management. The Finance Officer also undertakes routine banking activities, such as deposits and withdrawals, and liaises with internal departments and external parties to ensure compliance with the school’s financial policies and procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Process accounts payable, including supplier invoices, staff reimbursements, and other payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage accounts receivable, including tuition fees, donations, and other incoming payments, and follow up on outstanding balances as required.
- Maintain accurate and well-organised financial records and support monthly reconciliations.
- Manage petty cash and carry out banking duties, including cash deposits and withdrawals.
- Prepare basic financial reports and summaries for management review.
- Liaise with internal departments and external parties on finance-related matters to resolve queries and discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with the school’s financial policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance Department as required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum one to two (1–2) years’ experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or finance administration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software is an advantage.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and reliability, with the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to occasionally undertake banking and coordination tasks with external parties.
