TITLE: Mountain School Manager – Programs & Operations
LOCATION: Snowbird
STATUS: Full-Time, Salaried, Seasonal
SCHEDULE: Variable
- Must be able to work any day of the week including weekends and holidays.
SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Mountain School Director, you will be responsible for the management of all Mountain School affiliated programs. These programs include but are not limited to daily full and half day group lessons, school programs and special groups and camps. This position includes P&L responsibilities, coaching and supervising, and schedule maintenance of physical property both indoor and on-hill.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Manage staff including Operations Supervisors.
- Manage programs including local and school groups to fit within daily operations, budgets, and service levels.
- May be required to meet with local administrative coordinators, including schools, recreation centers, athletic clubs, and city government recreation departments.
- Will be required to train administrative staff and organize their tasks.
- Maintain projected budget goals for P&L.
- Resolve conflicts with guests and staff, using creative problem solving.

- Supervise learning terrain (grooming, sculpting) including Miner’s Camp features.
- Facilities: Manage the organization and flow of all facilities including indoor and on-hill space. Keep a clean, functional, and attractive appearance inside and an efficient meeting and teaching space outside. Oversee transition of facilities in Spring and Fall.
- Supervise ordering and maintenance of appropriate inventory supplies.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Excellent teaching, supervisory, management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Must have organizational skills related to the scheduling of approximately 150 staff members including instructors, supervisors, and indoor staff.
- Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- 4-year college degree preferred.
- Requires 5 years of mountain school experience.
- PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification required, PSIA/AASI Level 3 preferred.
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret PSIA/AASI technical journals.
- Expert Skiing/Snowboarding ability.
- Ability to comprehend and make judgments about various financial reports regarding operational efficiency and opportunities for growth. This includes the ability to predict trends and build budgets based on the above.
- Ability to create and manage reports that provide the Mountain School Director with statistics on program results.
- Knowledge of computers including windows, word processing, Excel spreadsheets is essential. Will need to master the use of Workday/FLAIK/RTP as it applies to sales, scheduling, and payroll.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Shifts vary, maybe early morning or late evening, weekends, holidays, depending on business levels.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, at occasional times of road closures.
- May experience unusual stress from continual work with the public, employee relations, responsibility for students’ safety, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
- This position requires the ability to ride the entire mountain in most conditions. S/he may be required to assist in various emergency situations that may occur on the mountain.
- The work environment varies from a warm office environment to a potentially hazardous and cold winter environment on the mountain.
- The position may require occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- There may be requirements to stand for long periods outside in the cold, or to sit for long periods in front of a computer screen.
- Must be able to think quickly and resolve problems in stressful situations. May experience stressful working conditions in times of peak occupancy.
