Clamp Truck Operator 2nd Shift

Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating and caring for the clamp truck.

• →Take rolls of paper to the corrugator, always taking buttrolls first, and record all rolls taken to the corrugator on the proper forms.
• →Learn to read corrugator lineups.
• →Mark buttrolls as to the size, diameter, lineal footage, and grade before returning to stock.
• →Unload rolls from trailers and/or rail cars.  Check for and note any physical damage to the rolls.
• →Scan rolls to location.
• →Use Mill wide for consumption and roll stock receipts.
• →Operate the clamp truck in a safe manner.
• →Complete clamp truck inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• →Keep warehouse organized and clean.
• →Turn in roll stock tallies to the corrugator supervisor or Scheduling Department.
• →Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• →Adheres to daily production schedule.  Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, delivery and service goals.
• →Assist the corrugator operator as instructed by supervision.
• →Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
• →Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• →Performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum high school diploma or GED required
• Candidates are preferred who offer the following:
  • Prior work experience in the packaging industry.
  • 6 months experience in some type of manufacturing operation

Able to read, write and speak in English and follow instructions.

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
• Product layouts and production specifications
• Product quality specifications
• Quality standards

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
