The Primary Care Collaborative (PCC), a multi-stakeholder nonprofit membership organization, seeks a Campaign Director for the Better Health Now campaign, the PCCs principal advocacy initiative to strengthen primary care and improve the nations health: https://thepcc.org/policy/better-health-now/. The campaign is focused on primary care payment/delivery reform through research, communications, policy/advocacy and collaboration. Our coalition efforts have resulted in major wins for primary care, and we have helped build momentum for bold change.
This Senior Director position is full-time, available immediately. The successful applicant is an accomplished, dynamic and seasoned advocacy professional in the health space with Capitol Hill experience and a background of coordinating with communication partners.
This role is at the intersection of policy and advocacy, real-world practice and communications. The successful applicant will be a strong collaborator and leader who can excite and inspire confidence in PCCs members as we develop and together carry out a shared advocacy agenda. This role requires interacting with senior policy leaders across many diverse organizations and leveraging their strengths to advance campaign goals. The job is based in downtown Washington, DC, and is on a hybrid schedule with three days a week in the office. The position reports to the President/CEO, while collaborating and working directly with a range of other team members and consultants.
Founded in 2006, the Primary Care Collaborative (PCC) is the leading national, nonpartisan and multi-stakeholder voice advocating for better health and wellbeing for all Americans by strengthening primary care. The PCC unifies and engages diverse stakeholders in promoting policies and sharing best practices that encourage the growth of comprehensive, whole-person primary care.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Develops, implements and raises the visibility of PCCs Better Health – NOW (BHN) campaign leveraging policy/advocacy, communications and collaboration activities on Capitol Hill and with key decisionmakers. Provides leadership to BHN, when the focus is legislative.
- →Develops and executes PCCs bipartisan Congressional Strategy, working collaboratively with the Director of Policy and outside government affairs consultants. This person will manage PCCs GR consultants, develop primary care champions and is the key PCC liaison with Capitol Hill.
- →Partners with PCCs President/CEO to regularly convene the Board Senior Staff Group (SSG), which provides intel and perspective to enable quick, unified responses to emerging and evolving issues affecting primary care, particularly in the payment/delivery space. The SSG is comprised of senior level government affairs professionals from diverse organizations.
- →Represent PCC at certain external coalitions and convenings related to Capitol Hill to deepen PCC relationships, including with think tanks. Periodically refreshes the BHN strategy to deepen and expand engagement of participants and to attract and retain ongoing external financial support for this effort. Regularly updates the Better Health – NOW (BHN) tactics and positioning to respond to changes in the environment.
- →Identifies and cultivates new partnerships and key relationships that advance Better Health – NOW and PCC more generally with respect to its overarching strategic imperative and its Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Proven strategist with experience leading health care advocacy efforts that have achieved results
- Capitol Hill experience in the health care space and existing relationships with staff on committees of jurisdiction
- Demonstrated experience leading rapid fire responses to emerging or developing issues
- Demonstrated experience identifying and building partnerships to achieve strategic aims
- Experience working on or leading a campaign is a plus
- Bachelors degree in related field required
- At least 10 years relevant (see above) work experience required
- Graduate degree in related field (e.g. public health, public policy) and/or a law degree is considered a plus

What We Offer
~1 min readThis is a full-time position, located in Washington, D.C., with excellent benefits, including health care, 401K, and generous leave. Salary range is $110,000 - $140,000 and is dependent on skills and experience.
