IT System Developer

Our client in the retail sector is recruiting an IT System Developer to join the IT Department and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support, develop, and enhance the Group’s ERP environment, business systems, integrations, process automation, reporting, and digital initiatives.

·      Develop, customise, test, deploy, and maintain Odoo modules and related business applications.

·      Configure and enhance Odoo views, models, reports, workflows, access rights, security groups, record rules, and automations.

·      Manage Odoo.sh and GitHub deployment workflows, including development, staging, testing, and production releases.

·      Support Odoo version upgrades through compatibility reviews, functional and technical testing, and migration of custom modules.

·      Develop and maintain website features, e-commerce functionality, APIs, and third-party system integrations.

·      Analyse business processes and translate operational requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions.

·      Work with management and operational teams to gather, clarify, document, and prioritise requirements.

·      Identify and propose improvements to workflows, reporting, system controls, data quality, and user experience.

·      Provide user support, deliver training on new features, and prepare clear user guides and procedures.

·      Support reporting, data extraction, database queries, integrations, and troubleshooting activities.

·      Coordinate with external consultants and service providers when required.

·      Ensure appropriate testing, documentation, version control, and change management before deployment.

·      Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical and functional documentation.

·      5 to 10 years of relevant professional experience in ERP software development, business systems development, or a closely related role.

·      Demonstrated experience in Odoo development and customisation. Knowledge of Odoo is required; exposure to Odoo 18 or 19 will be an advantage.

·      Strong Python development experience and good knowledge of the Odoo ORM.

·      Good working knowledge of XML, QWeb reports, security groups, access rights, and record rules.

·      Experience with Git and GitHub, including structured deployment and version-control practices.

·      Good understanding of PostgreSQL databases, data extraction, and troubleshooting.

·      Experience in web development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CMS platforms, and e-commerce technologies.

·      Experience with APIs, system integrations, workflow automation, and reporting solutions.

·      Ability to understand business needs and convert them into reliable system solutions.

·      Interest or practical exposure to AI tools, automation, and AI agents will be a strong advantage.

·      Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

·      Clear communication with both technical and non-technical users.

·      Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage competing priorities.

·      Structured approach to testing, documentation, data integrity, and system security.

·      Ability to train users and explain technical concepts in practical terms.
