Consultant Anaesthetist - Darwin - Salary up to $550,000

We are currently working with NT Health on a permanent Consultant Anaesthetist vacancy at in Darwin, the Northern Territory’s major tertiary referral hospital. You’ll provide high-quality anaesthetic and peri-operative care to a diverse community across a broad range of surgical and acute services, while supervising and teaching registrars, trainees and junior doctors.

• →Provide anaesthesia, analgesia, peri-operative and related services for patients across a broad range of surgical and acute specialties
• →Participate in the after-hours on-call roster
• →Provide pre-operative assessments, outpatient consultations, ward consultations and other related anaesthetic services
• →Provide clinical supervision and procedural assistance to registrars, other trainees and junior doctors
• →Supervise and teach junior medical staff and contribute to the department’s education program
• →Work collaboratively with surgical, intensive care and emergency teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality patient outcomes
• →Initiate and take part in research, audit and service evaluation
• →Participate in departmental quality assurance, including morbidity and mortality reviews, case reviews and significant incident reviews
• →Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation
• →Work across Royal Darwin Hospital and other Top End sites in consultation with you, if required
• →Take part in your own continuing professional development, annual performance appraisal and peer review

• Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas-trained specialist
• Specialist registration in anaesthesia with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), or eligibility to obtain it: UK CCT with FRCA or Irish CSCST with FCAI holders can apply through the Expedited Specialist Pathway
• Ability to be credentialed by the hospital before commencing
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A commitment to high-quality, culturally safe patient care

• Previous experience in an acute or trauma teaching hospital
• Proven ability to work collegiately with clinicians, nursing staff and managers
• Clinical leadership skills and the ability to facilitate multidisciplinary teamwork
• A clinical or academic appointment
• Interest in providing care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

• Total Renumeration package of AUD $313,514 to $550,000 ( inclusive of salary between $213,380 - $261,100., generous employer superannuation (up to 12%, salary sacrifice perks, enhancements, on-call and flexible rostering for optimal work/life balance)
