Responsibilities

→Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care within a forensic inpatient setting.
→Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
→Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and treatment planning for patients with complex forensic and mental health needs.
→Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, legal professionals, and external agencies to ensure safe and effective care pathways.
→Contribute to Mental Health Review Tribunals, court reports, and legal proceedings as required.
→Supervise junior doctors and contribute to their training and development.
→Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act
Extensive experience in forensic psychiatry and secure mental health services
Strong leadership, risk management, and communication skills
