Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care within a forensic inpatient setting.
- →Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
- →Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and treatment planning for patients with complex forensic and mental health needs.
- →Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, legal professionals, and external agencies to ensure safe and effective care pathways.
- →Contribute to Mental Health Review Tribunals, court reports, and legal proceedings as required.
- →Supervise junior doctors and contribute to their training and development.
- →Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
~1 min read- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act
- Extensive experience in forensic psychiatry and secure mental health services
- Strong leadership, risk management, and communication skills
