At Pulse Doctors, we are delighted to be working in partnership with an leading hospital in West Norfolk to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and clinically excellent Consultant in Haematology to complement a established and friendly team. This post offers significant variety, combining both clinical haematology and laboratory haematology responsibilities, with the chance to genuinely shape local services.

The vacancy is available on either a substantive (permanent) or fixed-term salaried basis and offer the opportunity to develop specialist interest.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a chosen specialist interest within haematology  by spending a day a week at Cambridge Univeristy Hopsitals NHS Foundation Trust and thus make an individual contribution to haematology services at their parent Trust.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive clinical haematology service, including diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients across the full range of haematological conditions.
  • Provide consultant oversight and clinical interpretation for laboratory haematology, including blood film review, coagulation, and haemoglobinopathy services.
  • Lead and participate in outpatient clinics for general and specialist haematology, including haemato-oncology, coagulation and benign haematology.
  • Deliver inpatient ward cover and haematology on-call as part of the rota, including for acute haematological emergencies.
  • Oversee and contribute to the management of patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) in line with trust protocols
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Haematology, or within six months of being eligible at the time of interview.
  • FRCPath or equivalent specialist qualification in Haematology.
  • MRCP or equivalent (or FRCPath via the dual-route pathway).
  • Permanent or fixed-term salaried NHS Consultant contract: £113,565 - £150,569 (Depending on Experience)
