Responsibilities

As a Band 6 Locum Physiotherapist you will assess children presenting with neurodevelopmental conditions to develop individualized physiotherapy programmes aimed at progressing motor development and managing any associated symptoms. You will provide clear advice and create tailored physiotherapy interventions, facilitating goal-oriented progress for each child. You will write accurate SOAP notes and generate comprehensive reports for families and other professionals, as well as input recommendations to inform Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCP) as required. You will conduct appointments in various settings, including clinics, homes, schools, and nurseries, depending on the child’s needs. You will liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to address the children's needs, coordinating onward specialist referrals and participating in health, social care, and education meetings, including safeguarding supervision.

Requirements

  • Must be a registered Physiotherapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Must hold a relevant degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Experience working with children in a physiotherapy setting is essential.
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively within an MDT is required.
  • Must demonstrate confidence and competence in assessing children and making appropriate recommendations based on clinical observation.
  • A solid understanding of typical child development to recognize deviations from expected growth patterns is necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills with children aged 0-19, their families, carers, and educators are required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children who may use alternative methods of communication.
  • Must be able to write professional patient notes and reports accurately.
  • Ability to manage your own diary effectively and adapt to service needs.
  • Willingness to provide support or cover for substantive staff as needed.
  • A valid driving licence is essential for community travel.
