Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team in Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in their career within a specialist mental health rehabilitation setting.

The service provides care and treatment for adult males aged 18+ with enduring mental health conditions, including personality disorders, substance misuse issues, challenging behaviours, and individuals who may have a forensic background. As Lead Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting service users on their recovery journey while leading and developing the occupational therapy service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload using evidence-based and person-centred occupational therapy approaches.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions that promote independence, self-maintenance, productivity, and leisure skills.
  • Participate fully within the multidisciplinary team and encourage service user engagement throughout their care pathway.
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of occupational therapy treatment plans and interventions.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and effective clinical documentation relating to patient progress and rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Support the supervision, development, and performance management of junior occupational therapy staff.
  • Deliver staff training and contribute to the ongoing development of clinical practice across the service.
  • Receive and respond to referrals, undertaking comprehensive assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs.
  • Support rehabilitation programmes that develop daily living skills, educational opportunities, and community integration.

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience within mental health rehabilitation settings.
  • Experience using a range of psychometric and risk assessment tools.
  • Strong therapeutic skills with the ability to engage individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Previous experience supervising and managing junior staff members.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
