We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to join a multidisciplinary Autism Assessment Service across Birmingham on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 or Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist with experience in autism assessments to support children and young people through a comprehensive diagnostic pathway.
Working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team (MDT), you will play a key role in delivering high-quality autism assessments, contributing specialist clinical expertise to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses. This flexible locum opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis for an initial three-month contract.
Responsibilities

- →Complete autism assessments for children and young people as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- →Lead and contribute to diagnostic assessments using specialist clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice.
- →Carry out Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) assessments as part of the diagnostic pathway.
- →Work collaboratively with professionals across the MDT to support clinical decision-making.
- →Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with professional standards and service requirements.
- →Provide specialist communication assessments to support autism diagnoses where appropriate.

- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration.
- ADOS training with proven experience conducting autism assessments.
- Previous experience assessing children and young people for Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.
