Those in other assurance services at PwC will focus on providing assurance services to organisations in respect of other laws and regulations (excluding statutory financial statement audits). Working in this area, you will have knowledge of particular industry or local/international non-audit assurance requirements/practices.
The Manager will lead the day-to-day planning, execution and completion of audit and assurance engagements for financial services clients, including banks, digital and microfinance banks, development finance institutions, insurance and takaful companies, asset management companies, mutual funds, non-banking finance companies and capital-market entities. The role is responsible for delivering high-quality, technology-enabled audits in accordance with PwC methodology, applicable professional standards and Pakistan’s legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage assigned audit engagements from planning through completion, including scoping, risk assessment, audit strategy, work programmes, execution, review and reporting.
- →Develop a thorough understanding of each client’s business model, products, systems, governance, regulatory environment and key financial-reporting risks.
- →Assess significant risks, material estimates and judgments, including expected credit losses, impairment, fair values, insurance contract liabilities, provisions, investments, revenue recognition and regulatory capital or solvency matters.
- →Apply International Standards on Auditing, applicable IFRS Accounting Standards, PwC audit methodology and relevant requirements of ICAP, SBP, SECP, AOB and other regulators.
- →Lead and review testing of business processes, internal controls, automated controls and information produced by the entity; coordinate effectively with IT, actuarial, valuation, tax and other specialists.
- →Ensure audit documentation is complete, accurate, timely and capable of supporting conclusions, consultations and the audit opinion.
- →Manage engagement economics, staffing, budgets, milestones, billing and recovery; promptly escalate quality, delivery or commercial risks.
- →Serve as the principal day-to-day contact for client management and maintain clear, professional and timely communication with the engagement leader and other stakeholders.
- →Prepare and review communications to management, audit committees, boards, group auditors and regulators, as applicable.
- →Coach, supervise and review the work of assistant managers, senior associates and associates; provide timely feedback and support their technical and professional development.
- →Support proposals, client presentations, industry initiatives, training and other business-development activities while observing independence and ethical requirements.
- →Promote a culture of quality, integrity, professional scepticism, collaboration, inclusion and accountability.
Requirements
~1 min read- Qualified Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
- Minimum three years of post-qualification experience, substantially in external audit and assurance.
- Relevant experience auditing financial services entities; exposure to banking, insurance, asset management or capital markets is strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS Accounting Standards and ISAs, with practical exposure to IFRS 9; knowledge of IFRS 17 is desirable for insurance assignments.
- Sound understanding of financial services regulations, corporate law, governance requirements and financial-statement presentation applicable in Pakistan.
- Ability to analyse complex transactions, identify audit implications, exercise professional scepticism and develop practical, well-supported conclusions.
- Strong engagement management, team leadership, coaching, client-handling and written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in audit technology, data analytics and Microsoft Office; experience with PwC audit tools is an advantage.
- Ability to manage concurrent engagements and meet demanding statutory and internal deadlines.
