QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills.

QSAC Special Education Teachers require NY State certification (Students with Disabilities/B-2, 1-6, 7-12). Teaching responsibilities include implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), classroom management, participation in annual meetings, and completion of required reports. Extensive training and support are provided with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

→Conduct formal and informal assessments of educational programs and behavior interventions.
→Implement and adhere to IFSP/IEP/Student Program.
→Prepare for and attend all pertinent pre IEP and IEP conferences
→Administer curriculum-based and standardized assessments
→Differentiate learning based on the needs of individual students and IEP goals
→When required, implement behavior management plans and relevant data collection procedures. Supervise Teaching Assistants/Aides in the implementation of educational programs and behavior intervention plans
→Ensure health, safety & welfare of QSAC students
→Meet with parents to provide overview of student progress

Requirements

NYS Certified Special Education Teacher (Internship Certificate a minimum)
Experience with ASD and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies preferred
