Track Inspector - Dayton, TX

R. J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking a Track Inspector to join our team in Dayton, TX.

• →Work in conjunction with the Track Supervisor to install and repair railroad track and complete other projects as needed. 
• →Operate machinery in order to adequately inspect the track.
• →Complete all required documentation.
• →Promote a safe work environment.
• →Railroad experience preferred.
• →Perform tasks associated with track work including but not limited to: pulling and driving spikes, replacing ties, surfacing track, changing rail, bars, and other track apparatus.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience

• →Prefer related work experience of at least 2 years involving track inspection, repair, and maintenance.
• →Strong understanding of FRA rules and regulations required.
• →Able to pass Railroad safety test and training.
• →Can safely and efficiently operate power tools.
• →Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
• →Should be multi-task oriented and possess good analytical skills.

• Able to perform physical strenuous work.
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Requires occasional use of 30 lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50 lbs of force.
• Requires occasional use of 10 lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75 lbs of force.
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.

• Performs some duties in job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment.
• Frequent exposure to weather elements; and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
