The Dual Hotel Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of both hotels by managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, reconciliations, financial reporting, audit support, and month-end accounting activities.
This role works closely with property leadership and department teams including Operations, Front Office, Food & Beverage, Sales, and Revenue Management to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with company policies and Marriott brand standards.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Process guest, group, and direct bill invoices accurately and timely.
- Generate and distribute group billing and event invoices.
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable aging reports.
- Follow up on outstanding balances and collection activities.
- Reconcile Guest Ledger, Advance Deposit, and Accounts Receivable balances.
- Partner with Front Office teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Assist with customer credit reviews and application processing.
- Review and process vendor invoices in a timely manner.
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Process Marriott-related invoices, loyalty reimbursements, and brand charges.
- Maintain accurate filing systems and supporting documentation.
- Assist with scheduled payment processing and monthly check runs.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations.
- Verify and reconcile cash deposits.
- Investigate cash overages, shortages, and outstanding deposits.
- Prepare and complete bank deposits for cash and checks.
- Support compliance with cash handling procedures and controls.
- Reconcile daily revenue and income journals.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Conduct house bank and cash audits.
- Assist with Food & Beverage cash and revenue audits.
- Research and respond to chargebacks within required deadlines.
- Support internal, corporate, and external audit requests.
- Assist with monthly closing and financial reporting processes.
- Prepare supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Reconcile Marriott loyalty reimbursements and related accounts.
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Support annual financial audit preparation and documentation.
- Partner with department leaders at both hotels to improve financial processes.
- Participate in operational meetings as needed.
- Provide administrative and accounting support across both properties.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- 2+ years of accounting, hotel accounting, or hospitality finance experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and reconciliations.
- Experience with cash handling controls and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Marriott systems, M3 Accounting, or hospitality accounting platforms is highly preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
