Financial Officer

A fast-paced distribution and warehousing specialist is seeking a meticulous Financial Officer to manage essential financial administration and reconciliation functions. Operating from the company’s offices, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management systems. The role serves as a vital link between the finance, sales, and warehouse departments, ensuring strict adherence to financial controls. This position is particularly suited to a process-driven professional with deep experience in retail key account reconciliations and the proficiency to navigate complex supplier portals. Hours of Work: Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 16:30. Key Responsibilities Key Accounts & Receivable Management: Perform end-to-end reconciliations for major national retail accounts; manage credit notes, discounts, and returns while ensuring all customer balances remain current. Banking & Payment Processing: Execute monthly bank reconciliations and import all transactions into the financial system. Manage the full payment lifecycle, including beneficiary verification and preparing payment batches for authorisation. Accounts Payable Oversight: Conduct comprehensive creditor reconciliations to ensure supplier statements align with internal ledgers, resolving discrepancies related to maintenance and consumable billing. Petty Cash Control: Maintain rigorous oversight and monthly reconciliation of physical petty cash, ensuring all expenditure is documented and correctly reflected in the accounting software. Operational Finance Support: Coordinate the procurement of warehouse consumables and verify weekly casual wage payouts, aligning all requests with company cash flow requirements. Systems & Data Administration: Manage financial payment requests via ClickUp and ensure all transactional data is accurately matched within the accounting framework. Audit Readiness: Maintain an organised filing system for GRNs, remittances, and invoices, ensuring all historical documentation is archived correctly for audit purposes. Requirements Retail Reconciliation Expertise: Extensive experience performing complex reconciliations for high-volume retailers, specifically utilizing Shoprite and Takealot supplier portals. Industry Background: Proven experience working within a warehouse, distribution, or FMCG environment. Bilingual Communication: Full professional fluency in both English and Afrikaans is essential for effective cross-departmental coordination. Payroll Administration: Prior experience in the verification and processing of casual wage payouts. Financial Accuracy: Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of resolving complex financial discrepancies. Preferred Qualifications Relevant financial qualification (Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping). Required Software Skills Microsoft Excel (Advanced level for data manipulation and reconciliation). Xero Accounting Software. Cin7 Inventory System. ClickUp (Task Management).
