The Supply Chain Specialist will coordinate with Operations to effectively manage the scheduled purchase of raw materials, complex materials, castings, tooling, and related requirements to support the manufacturing process. This position will support the plant with the purchase of outside processing services, hardware, and MRO items. The Supply Chain Specialist – Design to Value plays a critical role in driving cost competitiveness, supply resiliency, and value optimization through early collaboration with engineering, sourcing, quality, and manufacturing teams. Embedded within the Design to Value (DTV) continuous improvement group, this role focuses on influencing product and process decisions during design and change initiatives to reduce total delivered cost while maintaining or improving quality, performance, and customer experience.
- Purchasing & Supply Chain Management (75%).
- Identify and implement purchasing and supply chain improvements that enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and support corporate initiatives.
- Maintain accurate material master data and planning parameters to ensure reliable MRP execution.
- Support supplier development, alternative sourcing, and supplier qualification to strengthen supply continuity and cost competitiveness.
- Monitor supplier performance, capacity, delivery, and quality in collaboration with Quality Assurance and other stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate supply risks related to lead times, supplier capacity, single-source materials, and external disruptions.
- Prepare purchase orders, coordinate supplier deliveries, and expedite critical materials to support production requirements and new product launches.
- Analyze material demand and collaborate cross-functionally to align purchasing with forecasts, production schedules, and raw material requirements.
- Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials while proactively identifying and communicating risks to business operations.
- Design to Value (DTV) & Continuous Improvement Analytics (25%)
- Support improvement project business cases, savings tracking, and financial validation to ensure measurable and sustainable results.
- Develop and maintain Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence dashboards to support DTV, Cost Prioritization, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Provide analytical support to CI teams by evaluating operational, material, inventory, and financial data to identify, prioritize, and quantify improvement opportunities.
- Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to identify opportunities for material substitution, component standardization, supplier consolidation, and product cost optimization.
- Support DTV initiatives through analysis of material costs, supplier pricing, product BOMs, and component specifications to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- APICS Certification is preferred (CPIM/CSCP).
- Lean Six Sigma Training is preferred.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and working knowledge of using MRP.
- Ability to create and display information in table and chart format.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to complaints.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management.
- Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Occasional travel may be required.
