The Department of Pediatrics clinical services are delivered at UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital, which was named one of the best Children’s Hospital in Florida in the 2025-26 U.S. News & World Report rankings. Nationally ranked in four pediatric specialties, UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital provides the full spectrum of pediatric specialty services and is among the top children’s hospitals in the Southeast US.  UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital provides care for the children of Florida and is a major destination center for pediatric patients, who require specialized attention for complex medical problems.

In the most recent fiscal year, the department was home to over $30.5M in sponsored research.

UF Health faculty work in multidisciplinary teams with researchers in the five other Health Science Center colleges, as well as those from across the University. The focus of team efforts is often grown out of the Centers and Institutes, including the Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Brain Institute, the UF Genetics Institute, the Powell Gene Therapy Center, and the UF Health Cancer Center.
