Requirements

  • End-to-end experience with avionics or high-reliability electronic hardware.
  • Strong PCB design, bring-up, and laboratory debugging experience.
  • Ability to independently drive hardware issues through resolution.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Torrance, CA.
  • U.S. work authorization and export-control eligibility requirements may apply.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain applicable U.S. Government security clearance or authorization, if required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven end-to-end ownership of avionics or high-reliability electronic hardware.
  • Strong PCB design experience.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up and laboratory debugging experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously and drive hardware issues to closure.
  • Experience in avionics, aerospace, missile, space, automotive, or defense hardware.
  • Experience with motor controllers, backplanes, power electronics, or flight hardware.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD or aerospace hardware standards, including DO-254 exposure.
  • Embedded systems or FPGA-adjacent hardware experience.
  • Experience supporting hardware through integration, testing, or flight environments.

About the Role

We are seeking an Avionics Hardware Engineer to own flight-critical electronics across design, bring-up, testing, and integration.

The engineer may take ownership of areas such as motor controllers, avionics backplanes, power distribution, or outward-facing avionics test and integration.

We’re looking for an engineer who can take ownership of flight-critical hardware, troubleshoot issues hands-on, and move designs efficiently from concept through testing and production.

Responsibilities

  • → Own avionics hardware from architecture and schematic design through PCB layout, bring-up, and production support.
  • → Drive component selection, interface definition, and system-level tradeoffs.
  • → Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and root-cause analysis across laboratory, integration, and flight-test environments.
  • → Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure hardware meets performance, reliability, and mission requirements.
  • → Define and execute hardware validation strategies appropriate to development and flight maturity.
  • → Prepare technical documentation covering designs, test results, and engineering changes.
  • → Partner with manufacturing teams and suppliers to transition hardware from prototype to production.
  • → Continuously improve designs based on test results, field data, and evolving requirements.
