Junior Accountant

Red Ember is looking for an Accountant / Junior Accountant to join a professional accounting and tax practice based in Pretoria. The role will provide exposure to bookkeeping, financial reporting, tax compliance, and SARS-related matters, supporting a portfolio of individual and business clients. Requirements Full capturing and processing of cashbook information from bank statements through to the preparation of Financial Statements. Performing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date. Assisting with the preparation and compilation of financial statements. Preparing and submitting VAT returns. Preparing and submitting Personal Income Tax returns. Handling correspondence and communication with SARS on behalf of clients. Assisting with SARS queries, appointments, and general tax administration. Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Ensuring accounting and tax information is processed accurately and within required deadlines. Working closely with senior accounting staff and clients to resolve accounting and tax-related queries. Developing practical accounting and tax knowledge through on-the-job training. Requirements BCom degree in Accounting/Finance is required, or candidates currently studying towards a BCom degree will be considered. For junior candidates, Accounting as a Grade 12 subject is required. Strong numerical and analytical ability. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Good communication skills, particularly when dealing with clients and SARS. Ability to work independently while also being willing to learn and receive guidance.
