Major Function/Purpose of the Position:

The Israel Institute at Regent University is seeking a motivated and creative student worker to serve as a manager of the Institute's social media presence, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. This individual will be responsible for generating engaging digital content, designing promotional materials, and creating posters to advertise events across campus. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in gaining hands-on experience in social media management, graphic design, and marketing within a mission-driven academic institute.

Essential Functions: Critical features of this job are described below and may be subject to change at any time, due to reasonable accommodation or other reason.

  • Serve as an administrator of the Israel Institute's Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube accounts, including day-to-day posting, monitoring, and engagement
  • In close coordination with Israel Institute staff, develop a regular content calendar and create original posts (graphics, photos, short-form video, captions, and stories) that reflect the mission and events of the Israel Institute
  • Edit and upload video content to YouTube, including event recordings, interviews, and highlight reels
  • Design eye-catching posters and flyers to promote Institute events, lectures, and programs, and coordinate the printing and posting of these materials across campus
  • Monitor social media engagement (likes, comments, shares, messages) and respond promptly and professionally, escalating sensitive or controversial interactions to the Director rather than responding independently
  • Exercise discretion in handling sensitive, confidential, or politically charged information, and maintain the privacy of event details, guest information, and internal Institute matters unless authorized to share

Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Photograph and/or record Institute events for use in social media, newsletter, and archival content
  • Track basic analytics (reach, engagement, follower growth, newsletter open rates) and provide brief periodic reports to the Director.
  • Collaborate with Institute staff and faculty to ensure content is accurate, timely, and aligned with the Institute's voice and branding across all platforms
  • Stay current on social media trends and platform best practices to keep content fresh and effective
  • Assist with other basic marketing or administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications: 

  • Current Regent University student in good academic standing
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interest in or experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) in a professional or organizational capacity
  • Basic graphic design skills; experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, Photoshop, or Illustrator preferred.
  • Basic video editing skills (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, iMovie) preferred, for YouTube content and reels
  • Sound judgment and discretion; ability to handle sensitive or confidential information responsibly and to recognize when to escalate a situation to higher authority rather than respond directly
  • Creative, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable, organized, and able to meet deadlines for recurring posting schedules and event promotion
  • Interest in or familiarity with the mission of the Israel Institute is a plus

This position is primarily in-person at our Virginia Beach campus, with some possibility of remote work.

Average hours worked per week:

15 hours a week

Salary Range:

$12.77 an hour
