- Prepares the production of payrolls, including deductions for withholding tax, social security, health insurance, life insurance, and such other required salary deductions.
- Assists with the required federal and state tax reporting requirements; including quarterly payroll reports, annual earnings (W-2’s), withholding tax, and other such required reporting.
- Reviews all payrolls groups to ensure accuracy and corrects any errors before processing payroll
- Enter and maintain a variety of employee payroll deductions using manual and automated systems.
- Oversee all mandatory wage garnishments for employees
- Responds to inquiries concerning wage garnishments and earnings verifications
- Distribute payroll checks
- Assist with payroll tax reconciliations
- Responsible for the execution of printing payroll checks
- File employee payroll deductions, benefits information, and periodic reports.
- Sets calendar for district payrolls including pay dates and processing schedules.
- Calculates changes in contract amounts and payouts for accrued sick and vacation leave.
- Ensure compliance with all union contracts

Requirements

Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work long hours. Ability to make decisions, formulate and communicate ideas read and understands spreadsheets. Must have an excellent math aptitude. Experience with Ultimate Software payroll system preferred. Strong Excels skills preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office applications a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs
Work/Educational Experience
- Must be at least 18 years old, possess a high school or equivalent diploma and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the New York State Lottery regulations.
- Associate’s Degree in related field
- One (1) year related payroll experience.
