Responsibilities

Assist in managing day-to-day accounting operations.
Ensuring daily transactions, including recording of cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card transactions, marketing and payroll, and intercompany allocations are recorded properly.
Performing timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany allocations.
Supporting month-end, quarter end and year-end close processes, including conducting fiscal year-end close activities and verifying all entries have been created and posted.
Maintaining and balancing inter-store accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Reviewing and reconciling the general ledger, identifying and thoroughly investigating any discrepancies and taking proper actions to resolve them
Assist with audit coordination and liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies. This role supports the activities and requirements of external auditors and completes the external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information.
Ensuring all finance and accounting operations comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal and state laws and regulations.

Developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency.
Continually seeking and implementing opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology, including training staff to better utilize financial and accounting software.
Identify opportunities to improve the accounting close process and implement best practices through consolidation, analysis and streamlined productivity, utilizing automation tools where feasible.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 4+ years in accounting, preferably in a franchise dealership or retail environment. Experience with ERP systems and accounting software preferred.
Specialized Experience: Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards and regulations. Exposure to auditing, SEC reporting and internal control documentation in accordance with SOX compliance is preferred. Experience in banking operations, ERP integrations, and reconciliation automation is also desirable.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads efficiently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including advanced EXCEL skills for financial analysis and reporting.
Superior data management and data analysis skills.
