Vehicle Handler

Road & Rail Services is hiring dependable, safety-minded Vehicle Handlers to join our automotive operations team. This is an active, hands-on position where you will help move newly manufactured vehicles through the transportation process.

As a Vehicle Handler, your primary responsibility will be safely unloading new automobiles from railcars and driving them to assigned parking or staging areas throughout the facility. No CDL is required.

If you have experience in general labor, warehouse operations, automotive work, driving, manufacturing, transportation, material handling, or outdoor labor, your background may transfer well to this position. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

Drive new vehicles safely off railcars using designated ramps and unloading procedures

Transport vehicles to assigned staging, inventory, or parking locations

Follow established traffic patterns, speed limits, and customer safety requirements

Perform basic visual checks for noticeable vehicle damage or concerns

Enter and exit multiple vehicles throughout the shift

Maintain appropriate spacing when driving and parking vehicles

Climb railcar ladders and work around rail equipment when necessary

Follow instructions from supervisors, leads, and other members of the operations team

Remain aware of pedestrians, coworkers, vehicles, and equipment in the surrounding work area

Immediately report damage, hazards, or unsafe conditions

Maintain clean and orderly work areas

Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Support additional vehicle-handling and general labor tasks as needed

To be successful in this position, you should have:

A valid driver's license

The ability to safely operate passenger vehicles

Reliable attendance and the ability to report to work on time

A safety-first mindset

The ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions

Willingness to work outside in changing weather conditions

Ability to climb ladders and work at heights of up to approximately 16 feet

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

A willingness to learn new responsibilities and procedures

This is not a desk job. Vehicle Handlers spend much of their shift walking, standing, bending, climbing, and repeatedly entering and exiting vehicles.

Work is performed in an active rail and automotive facility, and employees should be prepared for changing temperatures and weather conditions. The environment may include rain, heat, cold, dust, elevated noise levels, moving vehicles, and railroad equipment.

Safety procedures and required PPE must be followed at all times.
