Pay: about $1,400 a week, or roughly $73,000 a year, paid weekly

Schedule: Monday to Friday, home on weekends

Freight: specialized steel tubing on a flatbed trailer

Home time: usually home daily, with an occasional layover if a run calls for it

Most days you'll load up at the Fort Worth hub, run your route and head home. Every so often a delivery means staying out a night, but that's the exception. Flatbed experience is a plus here, though it isn't a deal breaker.

- A valid Class A CDL

- 9 months of tractor-trailer driving in the last 3 years

- Flatbed experience, if you've got it

- A clean result on a urine and hair follicle drug test
